Flora Forever.

01. Gene Krupa & His Orchestra Fine Art Print, 1940′s.
02. Mambo for Cats Screen Print, 1955.

Jim Flora’s work is genius, simply put. Most famous are his illustrated wild jazz and classical album covers for Columbia Records and RCA Victor during the 1940′s and 1950′s. He also wrote and illustrated 17 popular children’s books in addition to being a fine artist and magazine illustrator. It is fantastic to see his legendary work live on and available for purchase as beautiful art prints. Supermarket has recently announced the arrival of Jim Flora limited edition prints available for purchase on their site including the album covers shown above.

03. Jived, Primer for Prophets 2008 Screen Print Series of 1954 Alphabet Book.

These hands down are one of my favorite Flora series. So far there are 8 screen prints in this set available for purchase. Take a look, they are truly amazing and of course grin worthy.

04. Louis Armstrong Hot 5 Limited Edition Fine Art Print from 1947 Columbia album cover.
(Available exclusively through the Hypergallery UK website.)

05. Benny Goodman Limited Edition Print of 1955 Record Cover Draft.
(Available for purchase
here.)

06. Groomed, Primer for Prophets 2008 Screen Print Series of 1954 Alphabet Book.

And well I just couldn’t resist including another choice illustration from this series. My favorite element?… the clever use of offset positive/negative space to create the couples’ reflections in the mirror… just perfect.

Guess I should have kept my framed Mambo for Cats out of the Florida sun, as the colors are much lighter than yours!
