01. Meehan’s Canines, circa 1913-14.
02. Bertish, circa 1914-15.

03. Bert Leslie, circa 1914-15.
04. Fred Kornau, circa 1912-13.

05. Alice Lloyd, circa 1914-15.
06. Big City Four, circa 1915.

Alfonso Iannelli was just 22 years of age when he began creating the now iconic avant-garde Modernist posters for the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. These lobby “showcards” done between 1910-1915 are truly remarkable… based squarely in geometry and on a grid system they represented something bold and fresh and certainly elevated these vaudeville acts to another level. I have posted a few of my favorites here.
