So Long Kodachrome.

by Amy@AQ-V on July 27, 2009

Oh we hate to see you go! It has been a grand 74 year run, but apparently all good things must come to an end… so they say. Kodak announced last month they are retiring the film that ironically birthed color photography right smack in the bleak of the Great Depression.

That’s right, the film that brought us “nice bright colors”, “the greens of summer” and made “all the world a sunny day” was created during a very gritty time block. What is even more remarkable is Kodachrome (one of the most complex film processes ever created) was cooked up by two unemployed jazz musicians in the bathtub of their apartment. Er, this should certainly serve as a suitable reminder to each of us to strive to be instigators of innovation right now in the midst of the current economic malaise.
