“Dealers say, ‘Best fly dope we ever handled.’ Customers say, ‘Nothing else will do what Conkey’s Fly Knocker does.’… In addition to saving milk, it saves trouble and annoyance in handling the herd, saves the milker’s time and saves torment to the dumb beasts… (equally) Horses should not be allowed to fret and spoil in spirit because of tormenting flies.” –Conkey’s Stock Book, 1911

Isn’t this just grand? I was honored to recently receive a very kind note on this ace letterpress card from fellow designer and vintage enthusiast Rick Kilby whose wonderful mid-century packaging design collection I highlighted last week here. The above vintage fly ointment ephemera was printed by Saturn Press on Swan’s Island in Maine. Good luck finding an email or website for them. To date, I have only found a spattering of their cards for sale online and none with bold graphics like this one that I am especially fond of. Will be framing this guy. Thanks Rick! :)
