As if I need any more reasons to poke fun of poodles and then I recently find this mint of a mid-century hardback book staring right back at me at the thrift. I admit to having a poodle prejudice deep seeded in childhood. (My sincere apologies to you poodle lovers out there.) These illustrations are certainly grin worthy whether you vote for or against Pierre and Brigitte. They are plucked from The Book of the Poodle by T.H. Tracy, illustrated by Jesse Spicer and Flavia Gag, published in 1950. Let’s face it, any animal with this many grooming options ought to be a little ashamed. Make the jump to see four more clips.

Walking, yipping, annoying little expressions of frustrated wannabe topiary gardeners. wink!
Amazing though how much work goes into these elaborate cuts.
