verge loves anatomy | or, verge loves you anatomically? | prints available
ink on paper mounted on cradled wood box frame, acrylic (sold)

verge (n) \ˈvərj\ 15th century Middle English
rod, measuring rod, margin, from Anglo-French, rod, area of jurisdiction, from Latin virga twig, rod, line… || 3 a: verge is my newest character made out of line, as an outer margin that borders or bounds b: a quiet gentleman that promises to behave if you take him home

observer | prints available

I consider “observer” my first completed oil painting. Taken from sketchbook drawings this character has reemerged from time to time, perhaps waiting for a graphic novel to call home. Observer quietly gathers sensory information for posterity.

Meet multi-linguistic *Verge* and his brave cohort *Observer* by clever Portland artist Dan Gay (aka The Art of Dang). I really dig Dan’s bold, stylized comic characters and his keen sense of humor in their narratives.

>> See more of Dan’s work on his website + flickr + shop (both prints and originals available)
