Je me figeais | I Stood Still (short film)

Maroc | Morocco

Beautifully abstract photography and film works by French creative Baptiste Sola who is employed as a CG artist in Paris. In his after hours he takes photographs and makes movies, creating magic like all of the above. I find the ethereal nature of Baptiste’s work to be wonderfully serene and engaging, a welcome escape from the mundane and hectic nature of our daily life and obligations. He artfully shifts one’s perspective to slow motion. More information about his Je me figeais short film:
This project is in full CG (no projector). I animate in 3D and make the lights, blur and composition in 2D. I like that I have real control on what I show or not. I really love out of focus pictures (as my photography), we can see on it thousands of think. For this project it was the goal. There is a personal story, but everyone can see that they want to see, to feel. I love too this very slow rhythm, so the spectator can sometimes think about something else during the film, it’s very important. Let the spectator make his own film and story.

I love these, they remind me of waking up on a sunny winter morning, before the eyes have had time to acclimatise—that feeling of anticipation when you know it’s the start of a great day and you can do whatever you want with it.
I featured Sola’s “L’échange” short film last year but these new films and images are a complete departure from that angular minimalist style. Nice find Amy!
