Tanya Johnston is a Montreal based graphic designer with wonderfully broad visual language talents including art and illustration. I was immediately intrigued by her aesthetic—one that is graphically striking, richly existential and insightful. Tanya’s work contains great visual depth balanced by beautifully spare compositions. Her mix of photographic, textural and geometric elements really sing as you can see above. And these represent only a portion of Tanya’s vision as her painting and drawing portfolios offer a varying style from these works but her signature remains throughout.
In Tanya’s own words…
Through pictorial and graphic processes, I explore the realms of reality and illusion as reality.
I frequently combine the techniques of drawing, painting and digital imaging to illustrate and communicate a non-linear vision of thought and space.
I access principles of aesthetics and design to harmoniously represent the convergences that exist between art, culture and science.
