Clever unconventional beauty. Artist Brandi Strickland and designer Robert Bentley have joined forces to establish Paper Whistle. Their website currently serves as a venue to purchase Brandi’s art prints and originals. She creates truly fantastic work like the mixed media painting/drawing you see above and below.
Brandi certainly has a knack for concocting visually arresting imagery via a synergy of choice elements—sometimes by the sheer economy of those elements and her keen sense of white space. And yet other times she quite successfully fills up her “canvas” to the hilt with bold color as you can see in the mixed media piece below. Notice there is a thread of beautiful geometry that permeates much of her work.

I loved poking through Brandi’s land of flickr. It is quite easy to get sucked in and not be able to find the exit door. She has posted fantastic collections of her collage, mixed media, drawing and photography works. I especially enjoyed viewing her beautifully spare moleskin sketches like those above.
