// UPDATE – December 2010 //
I am currently reworking the AQ-V shop to launch a line of brand new products so the offerings are rather slim at present, my apologies. I hope to have the new shop up soon this month.
Thank you!

In the shop you will find a round-up of my favorite Americana prints created by the Work Projects Administration during the 1930s and 1940s, such as admittedly my top favorite you see above. The original silkscreen poster was created by artist Richard Halls for the U.S. Travel Bureau and published between 1936-1938. The stylized forms, hand lettering and colors really sing.

The WPA
An enormous number of posters were created during the 1930s-1940s by various artists commissioned by the Work Projects Administration (WPA) as part of President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” initiative. Many of the artists worked in a very simplified graphic illustration style with bold hand-lettering. The original silkscreen, lithograph and woodcut posters not only had great eye appeal but were assuredly very effective in publicizing health and safety programs; cultural programs including art exhibitions, theatrical, and musical performances; travel and tourism; educational programs; and community activities throughout the United States.

WPA Fine Art Reproduction Prints
Over the years I have been adding several WPA posters to my own personal digital design inspiration library. I decided to share some of my favorites with others as these have so much appeal to not only graphic designers, illustrators, typographers, artists, etc. but anyone with an appreciation of great design and history.
Much time has been spent processing and cleaning up digital scans of these original posters to provide you rich prints packed with color and longevity. I am super pleased with the quality of these prints and the archival, eco-friendly bamboo German fine art paper on which they are made. It is not at all “earthy” but a soft white hue with a gentle fine art texture that is quite pristine. The prints are created with archival pigment inks for beautiful color and details to last a lifetime.
