In the spring of 2009, artist/activist Steve Lambert enjoyed a successful show at the Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles. His solo exhibit entitled Everything You Want, Right Now! consisted of campy, in your face blinking marquis signage that is all together brilliantly humorous and astute and appropriately obnoxious in its reflection of our hyper (and let’s face it, nauseous) consumer culture.
Steve’s show received much well deserved press at the time in 2009. AQ-V was in its infancy when the exhibit closed in June so I missed posting about it then but wished to highlight select works now for those who may have missed the buzz two years ago or for those who would enjoy paying it another visit. Largely, the recurring narrative in Steve’s work is advertising or more accurately, anti-advertising. I encourage you to follow the links above to see and learn a great deal more.
