My eyes turned a flip when I recently discovered these beautifully rich letterpress and linocut hand prints choc full of delicious patterns and colors by normat studio in Milan, Italy. What brilliant Modernist experiments utilizing 1930s wood type in several of their designs—each of the compositions so simple and striking.
normat is a project by Federico Boriani and Valentina Bianchi, two graphic designers. We wanted to build something between a graphic design studio and a printshop, to create limited editions and prints based on our typographic studies and other graphics-related materials with a radical minimalistic approach.
Follow the links above to see much more of Federico’s and Valentina’s work including a terrific commercial portfolio. And don’t miss perusing their shop to purchase limited edition prints like those highlighted above and below.
