A pair of terrific graphic sketches by early modernist Edward (Ted) McKnight Kauffer (1890–1954) discovered in the EMK flickr set of Crossett Library at Bennington College. These sketches are sourced from the 1950 issue of Portfolio: The Annual of the Graphic Arts. (I’m green with envy of Crossett’s copy of Portfolio. Copies of this short-lived publication—only 3 issues from 1950 to 1951—by legendary art director Alexey Brodovitch are quite rare and worth a small fortune.)
