Wonderful minimal typographic Shakespearean poster series by designer Laline Hay who recently graduated from London College of Communication with a BA (Hons) First Class degree in Graphics and Media design (Information). This project was completed as a student project.
Description:
The Brief was to create a set of theatre poster for the Barbican. We were given three Shakespeare plays: The Merchant of Venice, The Tempest and A Midsummer Nights Dream.
As well as being able to stand alone you had to create an identity so it was clear they were from the same series of performances. Using typography I made them connect in any order. I treated the poster as a metaphor for the stage. As with the stage there are things happening in the wings; you get a hint of this in the typography.

I liked her solving of the problem presented by the assignment of the Shakespeare posters and I enjoyed the other projects in her portfolio. I liked the Harry Houdini folder, done for ISTD, very much. And the concept behind the pinhole camera project was interesting. She’s a thinker.
A thinker, agreed. Thanks for the comments!
