One of my most prized mid-century paper finds in recent weeks, a compact and visually rich 1962 modern tourist guide to Israel. Printed with gold metallic, cyan, magenta and black inks, these beautifully simplistic mixed line art and folk art style illustrations leap off the pages when you see them in person. The perfect bound booklet is filled with perforated removable postcards. You are looking at a few samples of these postcards above in addition to the front and back covers.
The credit line reads, “Drawings and lay-out by Dan Gelbart.” But who is the artist? I have struck out finding any online information on this particular Dan Gelbart. Hopefully, facts will surface and I will be able to expand on this post in the future.

Hi Gustavo,
Thank you for the nice feedback.
Now good question on where to find a copy of this pub. Hmm, so far I have not found it online. (I had searched while researching this post.)
I certainly hope a copy turns up for you in some manner such as an out of print book store selling online or even Amazon. It is truly beautiful.

Hi there!
I was thrilled to see this post! My mother went to Israel in 1963 and I, too, have a copy of this book! You’re correct. The graphics are wonderful! Thank you for reminding me about it!
