Last month Dan Wagstaff (aka The Casual Optimist) featured a pair of striking typographic Alfred Hitchcock dvd covers by award-winning UK designer Ryan Tym. I was immediately intrigued and guessed you might be too. Ryan explains:

After recently purchasing a badly designed Alfred Hitchcock
DVD box set, I set to work on creating my own collection of
original covers. Each design features an iconic image related
to the film it represents and includes a bold typographic
title. I also created the reverse cover for each DVD.

See more of the Hitchcock Collection. Ryan’s entire portfolio is worth a gander as well.

Dan makes a good point that he’d love to see Ryan design book covers. And along those lines, be sure to check out The Casual Optimist for a wealth of book-centric information, design and commentary—guaranteed to be a good read with plenty of visual eye candy in the mix.

Excellent!

These look great. Love the theme that’s been created without it being too rigid so that each film retains its own identity.
