Yuri Matrosovich in Russia hosts a fantastic online gallery of Soviet era, anti-alcohol propaganda posters, hence entitled The Museum of Anti-Alcohol Posters. I learned of Yuri’s collection via a link from the home page of Cabinet Magazine. (A favorite art, culture, curiosities and overall intelligentsia magazine Mr. AQ-V and I highly recommend subscribing to.) Unfortunately, I can not find detailed information about these Soviet posters so I am unable to tell you who the artists are, nor the years of creation. I selected the works above and below for their bold graphic modern appeal. Visit Yuri’s website to see many more posters.

03. To Health!
04. Alcohol – Enemy of Production

05. Her Choice
06. Have Mercy on Your Future Child

07. Alcohol – Enemy of the Mind
08. Socially Dangerous

These are really creative posters. It’s interesting to see how powerful design without words can be.
