Quite a fabulous and extensive collection of mid-century Columbia Records jazz covers to be ogled over at The Birka Jazz Archive. Plus oceans more of other labels including a terrific batch of Blue Note covers by legendary designers John Hermansader and Reid Miles.

Created by Torbjörn Sörhuus in Sweden, Birka Jazz—the Swedish specialist in rare jazz vinyl records—has been online since 1998. I have highlighted a few of my favorites from the Birka Columbia archives above and below. And yes, all the while demonstrating my ongoing affinity for both jazz and Modernist red, black and white embodied in a tasty LP format.
