Bold, dynamic and primitive linocuts by Pablo Picasso for the Vallauris Exposition in France can be seen above and below. These 1950s original prints are available from the Georgetown Frame Shoppe in Washington, D.C. According to their website, the shop specializes in buying and selling works on paper—lithographs, etchings and linocuts—by contemporary and modern masters. They have a wonderfully extensive collection. I encourage you to follow the link above to see many more of their offerings including more Vallauris Linocuts by Picasso.
Picasso lived in the seaside community of Vallauris, France from 1948 to 1955. During this time he was quite prolific with his painting and sculpture and cow head humor. There he developed a fascination for ceramics and linocuts and significantly contributed to the renaissance of their pottery industry in the 1950s—the mythical golden age.
